Nada Miljkovic is a multidisciplinary educator, entrepreneur, filmmaker, and artivist (artist-activist). She teaches a wide range of subjects including entrepreneurship, eco-entrepreneurship, digital storytelling, systems thinking, and the ethics of emerging technologies. She works with students of all ages, from middle school learners to undergraduate, MBA, and graduate students.
Nada is one of the primary architects and creators behind many of the classes that comprise the Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) Certificate at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she has spent over a decade developing experiential, interdisciplinary curriculum that bridges entrepreneurship, technology, sustainability, storytelling, and real-world client engagement. Her entrepreneurship curriculum is grounded in the National Science Foundation Innovation-Corps (NSF I-Corps) Lean Startup Methodology, and she participated at the national level of the NSF I-Corps program in Fall 2019.
She has traveled internationally with the Stanford Pre-Collegiate International Institutes, particularly throughout Latin America, teaching hundreds of middle and high school students. She is also deeply involved in experiential and community-based learning initiatives that connect students with startups, nonprofits, and small businesses.
Nada has launched four companies, two of which continue to operate successfully. She is the CEO and co-founder of GetVirtual, a service-learning initiative that provides students with real-world experience helping businesses and nonprofits build their digital presence and strategic capacity. She is also the founder of Artist on Art, LLC, a creative practice focused on storytelling, media, and participatory art experiences.
In addition to her entrepreneurial and educational work, Nada serves as the President of the Board of the nonprofit E.A.R.T.H Lab SF and is the former Chair of the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County. She is also the organizer and license holder of TEDxSantaCruz and hosts “The Cutting Edge,” a community radio program on KSQD featuring innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and artists.
Nada is currently a PhD candidate in Digital Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, where her research explores emotional catharsis, sevdah, participatory performance, and nonlinear digital storytelling through her interdisciplinary project Sad Songs. She holds a BS in Construction Management and a BA in Philosophy from Purdue University, as well as an MFA in Digital Arts and New Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
