Alejandro Ramirez (he/they) is a scholar of Latin American Studies with a regional specialization in Brazil and Mexico. They received their B.A. in Latin American Studies from Washington University in St. Louis in 2024. Former Fulbright Study and Research grantee (Brazil 2024-2025) based in Salvador, Bahia, partnering with Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) and NuCuS. Their research examines the way individuals living in cities that experience heavy tourism navigate ideas of race/gender/sexuality across physical and digital spheres. Recent projects include research into the marketing strategies of public organizations and companies, examining how bodies are positioned within advertisement campaigns that transcend national borders. They now serve as the Graduate Student Representative for BRASA and have previously assisted with the Brazilian Initiation Scholarship (BIS) selection committee.
