History Of Consciousness
Nicholas Denning (MA in Philosophy at the University of Oregon) researches at the intersection of feminist ethics, environmental philosophy, and visual studies. He is interested in articulating theories of care towards the goal of environmental remediation -- including the healing of livelihoods and human flourishing as they relate to ecologies and landscapes. To study processes of remediation, Denning utilizes a visual-photographical methodology, both picturing landscapes, and imagining the kinds of images in which more-than-care might circulate. He has presented papers on hyperreal landscapes (Association for Philosophy and Literature 2025), the philosophy of biology (Philosophy of Science Association 2024), and feminist phenomenology (Nusantara Philosophy 2022). His work has appeared in Culture and Dialogue to detail the comparative potential of "becoming" and "growth" as they arise in the radical empiricisms of Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, and John Dewey.
