Katja is an expert in antibody discovery and engineering and a co-inventor of selmax, a proprietary technology for the high-throughput selection of antibody-secreting cells. She has translated academic research into commercial applications through her work as a professor at the University of Potsdam and as founder and CEO of the biotechnology company new/era/mabs. Katja established and led an externally funded research group focused on antibody technologies. In 2015, she was appointed to an industry-endowed professorship at the University of Potsdam in Germany. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2023, she became affiliated with Stanford University’s SPARK Translational Research Program as an industry advisor. Katja earned her Ph.D. in Immunotechnology from the University of Potsdam, an MBA in BioMedTech, and a degree in Biology from Humboldt University of Berlin.
